  • iPhone only, for now. On This Day is built for iOS and depends on the Photos library on your device.
  • Nothing is deleted by accident. Marking a photo only sets it aside. Deletion happens after the final review screen.
  • Reply times. This is a small, independent app, so replies usually take a day or two. Thanks for your patience.

Frequently asked questions

How does On This Day decide which photos to show?

It looks at the month and day of the current date and gathers the photos taken on that same calendar day in previous years, grouped by year. You can also pick any other date or a whole month.

Does the app upload or see my photos?

No. Photo scanning and review happen entirely on your device. On This Day does not have an account system and never uploads your photos to a server.

What happens when I mark a photo for deletion?

Marking sets the photo aside in a review set — it is not deleted yet. You can undo at any point. Photos are only removed after you open the final review screen and confirm the exact set.

Where do deleted photos actually go?

When you confirm, photos are removed through the iOS Photos library, which means they move to your Recently Deleted album for about 30 days before they are gone for good. iCloud Photos settings can affect this, so review carefully before confirming.

I granted limited photo access. Will the app still work?

Yes, but it can only see the photos you selected through iOS. To review your full history for a date, grant full photo access in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security › Photos.

Is there a paid version?

On This Day may offer optional paid features through On This Day Pro. Purchases are handled by the App Store, and you can restore them on a new device. Core photo review is part of the app.
